Getting Rid of an Old Couch in Brunswick

Describe the couch you actually have

A couch request should say more than old sofa. Tell us whether it is a regular couch, sectional, recliner or sleeper sofa. Show the full piece from more than one angle, including its condition and any loose sections. If it has a folding bed or reclining mechanism, mention that rather than assuming it is obvious in the photograph.

Sectionals may have several connected pieces. Count them and show how they sit in the room. A recliner may have moving parts or controls that should be identified. A sleeper sofa can be difficult to handle because of its internal mechanism. Do not open or dismantle something you cannot safely control just to provide details. Describe what you know.

Photograph the route through the home

Our couch removal service starts with the item and access review. Include the room doorway, hall, stairs and outside entry. A couch that fits through one door may still face a narrow landing or sharp turn. Clear photos help show whether the proposed route needs a closer look before a quote is agreed.

In an apartment, tell us the floor and whether the entry is shared. Show narrow corridors, stair corners and doors that restrict movement. If an elevator is proposed, ask the building contact about access arrangements and provide those details. Do not promise that a couch will fit based only on its width. The entire route needs to be considered.

Keep building access and parking clear

For a property in Brunswick, include the pickup location and any entry instructions in your request. Tell us where the crew can arrive without blocking a shared passage. Do not assume an open space beside the building is available for loading. Arrange access with the person responsible for the property before the job.

Apartment buildings can have their own requirements for entry, common areas and move activity. Ask the building contact what applies and share it with us. Keep other residents' belongings clear of the carry route. If a stairway or landing is unsafe, say so before choosing a time. General removal does not include repairing access or altering the building.

You do not need to move it outside first

Inside carry out can be requested where accepted items and access are safe. A heavy couch does not need to be pushed down stairs just to start a quote. Leave it where it can be photographed clearly, and identify the route. If you already have it outside, describe its location and condition so the pickup scope reflects that.

Keep children, pets and belongings that stay out of the work area. Remove personal items from between cushions and nearby storage before the crew arrives. Do not drag furniture across a shared hall or leave it blocking an exit while waiting for a window. Agree on the plan first so the couch does not create a new access problem.

Include other furniture in the review

If a chair, table or dresser is also going, show it in the original request. Our furniture removal service reviews accepted household pieces alongside their access. A couch quote should not be treated as a whole room cleanout unless that scope has been agreed. Added items may require another review.

During an estate cleanout or family downsizing project, keep selected furniture separate from the removal group. Clear labels help, but one agreed contact should confirm the final list. The crew does not decide which family member should receive a piece. If an item is still being discussed, leave it outside the hauling scope until the family has settled its instructions.

Brunswick and nearby requests

We also review requests in Topsham, Harpswell and Bath. These locations can involve different home layouts and access, so include the actual property details. A ground floor cottage, upstairs apartment and house with a long carry are not interchangeable jobs even when the same couch is involved.

Send the item photos and the route out for a reviewed quote. Timing is subject to availability, and submitting a request is not a confirmed pickup. Once the scope is accepted, arrange entry and keep the agreed contact available. We remove the accepted furniture and sweep the cleared area for a broom clean finish, not deep cleaning or floor repair.

Request a reviewed quote

Send photos of the items and the route out. Tell us which belongings stay and who will coordinate access. Request a quote from The Junk Lords or call (207) 333-1422. You get your price first, then pay securely with the link we send to confirm. Availability and accepted contents need review before you plan around a pickup.

Questions

Can you remove a sleeper sofa?+

It can be reviewed. Identify the folding mechanism and show the couch, stairs and route out before arranging removal.

Tell us how the sections connect. Do not attempt unsafe dismantling; preparation should follow the agreed handling plan.

Can you carry a couch down apartment stairs?+

Safe stair carry out can be requested after the route and item are reviewed. Show every turn and landing.

Can I add a recliner?+
