Downsizing a parents home in Maine
By Junk Lords crew / Published / Updated
Start with what stays
Before anything leaves, set aside keepsakes, documents, photos and anything the family wants. Walk the house once with boxes for keep, and only then look at what goes.
Photograph what goes
Take photos of each room, the basement, the attic and the garage. Family members can send photos from anywhere, so the person coordinating does not have to live nearby. Send them through the quote form and Caden confirms the price before you commit to anything.
What it costs
Smaller partial clearouts are priced by job size: small jobs are $119, medium $189, large $239 and extra-large $479. Full estate cleanouts start at $499 and are quoted from photos and the scope. The price we send is the price you pay unless the pile changes.
When it is more than a cleanout
If the move involves a smaller home or assisted living, our senior downsizing service covers the removal side. For a full house, see the estate cleanout guide and the estate cleanout cost guide. If an attorney is involved in settling the estate, the estate attorneys page explains how we work with them.
This is practical guidance, not legal advice. Questions about the estate itself belong with your attorney.
