How much does junk removal cost?

By Junk Lords crew / Published / Updated

How junk removal companies charge

Most junk removal companies charge by volume: how much space your stuff takes up once it is loaded. Some add fees for heavy material, appliances with refrigerant, mattresses and TVs, because those cost more to dispose of. Others quote a flat price after seeing the pile in person. The big difference between companies is whether you see a price before anyone shows up.

Our posted prices

We post every price so you can compare before booking. You send photos, Caden confirms the price, and you pay only if you approve it.

Every job starts from the same posted price card. A single item is $64. A small job, up to about 1.5 cubic yards, is $119. A medium job, about 3 cubic yards or roughly a room, is $189. A large job, about 5 cubic yards or roughly a garage bay, is $239. An extra-large job, about 10 cubic yards, is $479, and anything past 10 cubic yards is $45 per yard. A mattress or box spring is $64 alone or $20 each on a job. A washer, dryer, stove or dishwasher is $69 alone and free on a job. A fridge, freezer, air conditioner or dehumidifier is $99 alone or $35 on a job. A TV or monitor is a $15 add-on. Construction debris is the job price plus 20%. Estate cleanouts start at $499 and hoarding cleanouts at $599. The full list is on the pricing page.

Typical costs by job

  • One couch: $64.
  • One mattress: $64, or $20 if it is part of a bigger job.
  • A fridge by itself: $99.
  • A spare room of furniture and bags: usually a medium job, $189.
  • A one-bay garage: usually a large job, $239.
  • A full basement or most of an apartment: usually an extra-large job, $479.
  • A whole house after a death or a move: estate cleanouts start at $499.

How much does junk removal cost for a whole house?

A whole house is usually priced as an estate cleanout, from $499, because it involves several rooms, a basement, an attic and often a garage. The final number depends on volume and access. Photos of every space give the most accurate price.

What raises or lowers the price

  • Volume: the biggest factor.
  • Weight: concrete, shingles, dirt and wet carpet cost more. Construction debris is the job price plus 20%.
  • Special items: refrigerant appliances, mattresses and TVs carry set fees.
  • Bundling: one job priced by size usually beats several single items. Washers, dryers and stoves are free on a job.

Questions to ask any company

  • Is disposal included?
  • Are there extra fees for stairs, appliances or mattresses?
  • Can the price change after the crew sees the pile?
  • Do I need a card to get a quote?

Our answers: disposal is included, item fees are posted, the price we send is the price you pay unless the pile changes, and no card is needed to ask.

Junk removal cost versus doing it yourself

Doing it yourself means a vehicle big enough, a helper, a permit or sticker for your town facility, per-item fees for mattresses and appliances, and a free day when the facility is open. For one light item, that can be cheaper. For a room, a garage or anything up stairs, the posted job price usually wins once you count the time.

How booking works

Send photos through the quote form or text them to (207) 333-1422. No card is needed to ask. Caden looks at the photos and sends your price. If it works for you, you pay from the link he sends and that confirms the slot. The price we send is the price you pay unless the pile changes. If you add things after the price goes out, the price is updated before work starts, not after.
