How it works

How much to tip junk removal

By Junk Lords crew / Published / Updated

Is tipping expected?

No. Junk removal is priced as a service, and our posted price is the full price. Nothing on your bill assumes a tip, and nobody should ask for one. That said, people search this question a lot, because the work is physical and it is not always clear what is normal.

What people commonly do

There is no set amount and no expected amount. Our price is the price, and the job is complete once it is paid. If someone wants to say thanks, how they do it is entirely their call. Others offer cold drinks or lunch instead of cash, especially on a long day. All of these are personal choices, not rules.

When people tend to tip more

  • Lots of stairs, a long carry or a tight attic.
  • Very heavy items like a sleeper sofa or a chest freezer.
  • Dirty or unpleasant conditions, like a flooded basement.
  • Extra care around a family home or keepsakes.
  • Bad weather.

When people skip it

A quick single-item pickup, or a job where the price already reflects difficulty, often goes without a tip. That is completely fine.

Better than a tip: a review

If the job went well, a short, honest online review helps a small local business more than most people realize. Mention what was removed and the town.

Posted prices

Every job starts from the same posted price card. A single item is $64. A small job, up to about 1.5 cubic yards, is $119. A medium job, about 3 cubic yards or roughly a room, is $189. A large job, about 5 cubic yards or roughly a garage bay, is $239. An extra-large job, about 10 cubic yards, is $479, and anything past 10 cubic yards is $45 per yard. A mattress or box spring is $64 alone or $20 each on a job. A washer, dryer, stove or dishwasher is $69 alone and free on a job. A fridge, freezer, air conditioner or dehumidifier is $99 alone or $35 on a job. A TV or monitor is a $15 add-on. Construction debris is the job price plus 20%. Estate cleanouts start at $499 and hoarding cleanouts at $599. The full list is on the pricing page.

Keep the price clear

Because tipping is optional, the price you approve is the price you pay unless the pile changes. If you add items on the day, the price is updated before work starts.

Tipping by situation

  • Single item, easy access: no tip is expected.
  • Half day, stairs involved: no tip is expected. The approved price covers the stairs.
  • Full house or messy conditions: no tip is expected. The price is set from your photos before work starts.

Cash or app?

If you choose to tip, cash handed directly is simplest. There is no tip line on our payment link, and the price you approve is the whole charge.

What matters more than a tip

Clear photos, an accurate description of stairs and access, and having the keep items set aside before the crew arrives make the job faster for everyone. That is the best help you can give.

If you are unsure, a thank you and an honest review of a job done well are always welcome.

How booking works

Send photos through the quote form or text them to (207) 333-1422. No card is needed to ask. Caden looks at the photos and sends your price. If it works for you, you pay from the link he sends and that confirms the slot. The price we send is the price you pay unless the pile changes. If you add things after the price goes out, the price is updated before work starts, not after.
