Trash removal in Lewiston and Auburn: when curbside is not enough
By Junk Lords crew / Published / Updated
What curbside covers and what it does not
Weekly curbside pickup in Lewiston and Auburn is for regular household trash. It does not take furniture, mattresses, appliances, carpet or construction debris. When you have more than fits in the bin, or things that were never meant for it, you have three choices: haul it to a facility yourself, wait and let it pile up, or pay someone to take it.
The kind of trash we take
- Overflow bags after a move, a party or a cleanout.
- Trash left behind by a tenant.
- Bags from a garage, attic or basement that sat for years.
- Broken furniture, carpet and padding.
- Mixed piles of trash and junk that need to go at once.
What we do not take
Hazardous waste, paint, propane tanks, gasoline and oils, chemicals, asbestos, medical waste and hot tubs. Food waste should be bagged and sealed.
How trash is priced
By volume. Bags of soft trash pack down, so 10 to 12 bags is usually a small job at $119. A garage or basement full of bags and boxes is usually a large job at $239 or an extra-large job at $479.
Posted prices
Every job starts from the same posted price card. A single item is $64. A small job, up to about 1.5 cubic yards, is $119. A medium job, about 3 cubic yards or roughly a room, is $189. A large job, about 5 cubic yards or roughly a garage bay, is $239. An extra-large job, about 10 cubic yards, is $479, and anything past 10 cubic yards is $45 per yard. A mattress or box spring is $64 alone or $20 each on a job. A washer, dryer, stove or dishwasher is $69 alone and free on a job. A fridge, freezer, air conditioner or dehumidifier is $99 alone or $35 on a job. A TV or monitor is a $15 add-on. Construction debris is the job price plus 20%. Doing it yourself
Lewiston residents can use the Solid Waste Facility at 420 River Road, where an EZCard waives tip fees on the first 1,000 pounds a year. Auburn residents use Maine Waste to Energy at 110 Goldthwaite Road. See the transfer station guide.
Tips before pickup
- Double-bag anything wet or heavy.
- Keep bags in one spot if you safely can.
- Pull out anything hazardous.
- Photograph the whole pile, including what is behind the front row.
For landlords
Trash left in a unit after a move-out is one of the most common calls. We can send a Stripe invoice to the owner or manager, and the job is scheduled once it is paid. See rental turnover cleanouts.
How booking works
Send photos through the quote form or text them to (207) 333-1422. No card is needed to ask. Caden looks at the photos and sends your price. If it works for you, you pay from the link he sends and that confirms the slot. The price we send is the price you pay unless the pile changes. If you add things after the price goes out, the price is updated before work starts, not after.
